Welcome Address

On behalf of the Christian Community on Campus, I wish to welcome you to the University of Benin, the great citadel of knowledge, a place to acquire knowledge for service, a refinery that transforms you to your best. I strongly believe that your coming to University of Benin at this time is orchestrated by God. So I will advise you to maximize the opportunity in order not to leave UNIBEN half-baked.

In the University of Benin, there are powers that contend for your destiny, the power of darkness and that of light, no matter what darkness offer you the truth and originality of life is found in the light.

Some persons entered UNIBEN with a well-defined purpose, while others are yet to discover their purpose. UNIBEN gives you opportunity for self-discovery and purpose, use it well. Remember that you are here because you are a student, give your academics the best you can and always put God first.

I pray that God’s grace will speak for you throughout your stay in the University of Benin.

The move of God in the University of Benin over the years cannot be over emphasized, God raised men and women in various dispensation to convey his divine mandate in UNIBEN, ranging from Exceeding Great Army to Advancing His Kingdom. By the grace of God I wish to inform you that in this dispensation God is stirring men up and setting them on course, giving them special gifts for the perfecting of the body of Christ.

One thing is crystal clear, God wants the person of Jesus to be establish in the lives of men and women in the Christian community on campus.  He wants us to labor until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of Jesus, that we will be matured in Him, measuring up to the fullness of Christ. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever that they sound like the truth.

During your stay in UNIBEN, I want you to know that Spiritual unity is not something we manufacture. It is something that we already have in Christ and we must protect and maintain it. The truth unites, but lies divide. Love unites, but selfishness divides. Therefore, we should speak the truth in love, equipping one another and edifying one another, that all of us may grow up to be more like Christ.

Beloved, my candid advice to you is this, ensure you belong to one of the Christian bodies where your life will be worked upon until you measure up to the full stature of Christ.

Welcome to UNIBEN. I love you.
